Stress may arise when we are not able to cope up with our daily life activities and they may exceed beyond our control such as work, relationship, and study. When we have stressed our body activates our “fight or flight response” that leads to the release of certain hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. Extreme amount of stress may lead to the decline in mental health as well as physical health. It may lead to anxiety, insomnia, high blood pressure, obesity and cardiovascular illness. Fortunately, there are certain healthy ways people may use in order to overcome stress.

Drink A Lot Of Water:

Seems strange? But yes water is one of the best ways to overcome stress. Studies show that dehydration in our body leads to high levels of cortisol (stress hormone) and so the stress increases. This doesn’t mean that drinking a lot of water will solve your problems causing stress but it will help your brain to achieve chemical balance so that no more stress comes in your way.

A study of Tara Kraft and Sarah Pressman of the University of Kansas says that smiling actually helps reducing stress. Regardless of their awareness, smiling participants in their study recovered more quickly from stress as compared to those with neutral expressions. This is because our brains are interconnected with our emotions as well as facial expressions.



Meditation provides a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. During meditation, you exist in your present eliminating all the factors causing stress which improves your physical and mental health. It includes tai-chi, yoga or repeating a calming word or thought to stay away from distracting thoughts giving you space and clarity you need to discriminate and overcome stress.

Call A Friend:


Talking to someone about how you feel helps to overcome stress. Receiving emotional support from somebody you love helps you deal with the problems in a better way. It is not possible to avoid stress but you can express it which dramatically reduces your stress levels. But it is important that the person you talk to should be trustworthy, not the stressor or else there will be no decrease in the level of your stress.

Keep a notebook and write down each of your stress episode which helps you become clearer about the situation which causes you to be stressed. Let yourself write freely without any interruption and then analyze the whole thing you’ve written. Rate each of your stress episodes. Gradually it will help you to deal with your stress effectively.

When you exercise, the body releases endorphin and norepinephrine which are the chemicals inside your body that makes you feel good and reduce stress. Even a little exercise like 20 minutes of walking has immediate effects that last for several hours. So when you are tensed go for a walk in the fresh air. Add up some physical activity into your daily routine which will induce calm and help you to overcome stress.

Focus On One Thing At A Time To Achieve Success


Every person in this world has a lot of goals and achievements to conquer but it is not easy to conquer them all at once. If you do not focus on one of them at a time, you are not going to achieve them. Most of the people have eyes bigger than their stomach that is they put a lot in their plate than they could actually eat. The same is the case with our minds. When we put in a lot of information we end up forgetting most of the things.

Simple Is Better:

Why to create a complicated mess in your mind when simplicity is better and fine. Focusing on one thing helps us to retain information related to it in our minds as it helps freeing up space in our mind. It may be difficult to focus on one thing and our mind may drift. Try to catch up your mind when it drifts and re-focus. When the things are simple and you focus on one thing, your concentration power increases and thus you can dominate success and deceive failures.

Avoid Multi-Tasking:


Focus on one thing is important to get success as focusing on more than one is equal to achieve neither of them. Trying to accomplish a lot of goals at a time makes us feel productive and busier but it invariably makes us less productive. Productivity isn’t about how fast we work and how much busy we are. It is actually how much we accomplish. Multi-tasking is the opportunity to screw up more than one thing at a time.

Fears may serve as an obstacle while going to achieve your goal. If you try to achieve a lot of goals at once, all of the fears accumulate like a monster making you easily give up. Giving up is not the solution, focusing on one thing is. When you focus on one thing you get a little fear with each of them to handle and it gets easy for you to deal with it.

Be Patient:



Patience is also a requirement. It is a human condition that we cannot wait for the things we want to get. But if you really want to achieve your goals you have to figure out which thing you want to achieve first and what can be achieved a year later. It is really all about focus and focus on one thing.

How To Focus On One Thing:

To accomplish a long list of things you have to write down all of your goals in a free-mode. It means that you should not interrupt yourself while writing. Find out which goals are you more passionate about and which are less important to you. Estimate that how much time you will take in accomplishing one goal and how much it will take to accomplish other. Select the first thing and set up a specific time to work and focus on one thing. Try to cut off your emotional distractions and if you cannot cut them off, think about them for a minute, let yourself be distracted and then put them aside to focus on your goal.
